Featured Seller – Covetables

Posted by digtheearth on Monday, February 23rd

This week I’ve chosen Covetables, home of ‘lovable, huggable, joyful, covetable toys, dolls and craft kits’. Check out Covetables’ shop with the link below, or if a particular product catches your eye, click on the image for more information. Anyone who can make chickens look this good must be doing something right!

Covetables

Introduce yourself

I am Michelle from Covetables. I’m a crafter by night and a baker by day (though no quick changes in phone booths are necessary!) I wear both hats at all times, and yes, they are hand knit! I am an expat and mum to a five year old girl.

How did it all start?

I have always made things. Even as a small girl I made clothes for my Barbies. I have been selling crafts off and on for about 20 years, as a teenager I used to do hand painted ceramics at craft shows and it’s gone from there.

Covetables has really only been in existence for about a year now though. I was making a lot of things for friends and their kids (and my own) when I realized that it was something I loved doing. You can only inundate people with stuffed pigs for so long, so I started selling them. At the moment I am really thinking about branding and trying to tie everything together with the same look and name. I’m even working on a logo for my baking business that will be cohesive as well

I love bags!

Posted by alibalijewellery on Friday, February 20th

I’m a girl, therefore it is natural that along with shoes, bags are an obsession. Clutches, handbags, shoppers, purses, doesn’t matter really any type is capable of feeding my need!! I had to exercise serious amounts of control this week when  commenced research for this blog post! I can see blogging here is going to create a serious deficit in my bank account!!

Ready girls………

More next week!!

Featured Seller – Mrs Gibson’s Atelier

Posted by digtheearth on Monday, February 16th

Hello, and welcome to Coriandr’s new weekly ‘Featured Seller’ blog post! Every Monday you will now be able to find out what makes a Coriandr seller tick…

I’m Kev, I run a shop called digtheearth, and am one of the new blog editors. Every week I’ll be showing you some fantastic items from Coriandr, from sellers you may never have heard of yet!

My  favourite shop this week, and the first Coriandr Featured Seller has to be… *drumroll*

Mrs Gibsons Atelier

Introduce yourself

Hello, my name is Sam Gibson and I am the creative force and one woman management behind Mrs Gibson’s Atelier. I work from my *studio* (back double bedroom) in my Northamptonshire home. I am married with two sons aged 7 and 8 and when they are out of the house I play with their Lego. I enjoy good food, fine wines and hoovering wearing my best high heels.

How did it all start?

Since I was little I have always ‘made things’, always drawn, sewn and embroidered. I think it was a natural progression to eventually make a living from it. I was working in London for a large record retail company, at their head office, having been on the management teams in store. My husband was relocated to Dublin and I had all intentions of carrying on a career in that vein. After two weeks in Ireland I found out I was pregnant (oooo what a lovely surprise) and I had a re-think regarding what I really wanted to do with my future.

I knew I wanted to stay at home with my son and I also knew I wanted to make a living, so I decided a home based design/craft business would be ideal. On returning to England (with son number 2 on the way) I did a TON of research. I wanted to know who else was out there selling their handmade designs. I found that the craft scene in America was streets ahead of what it was here, far more cutting edge and modern. I think we are catching up fast and sites like Coriandr are a huge help in that respect. In the beginning I sold on eBay, then on a US site and have continued to develop my design style and marketing skills. I love that there are now UK based sites like Coriandr for us to utilise.

Hello all! I’m Molly, otherwise known as Tiny Pretty Things, and I’ll be blogging inspiration from far and wide! I can’t say when or how often, I’m like the inspiration ninja, striking when you least expect it. Remember I am writing these articles for you so let me know if there’s any way I can improve.

For the time being I shall be introducing you to the wonderful Artisan Crafts gallery on deviantART.com. I have been a member for a long time now, and I am always finding wonderful new artists I wish to share!

As today is Valentines (well, it was an hour ago) I thought I’d go with the topic of LOVE. So enjoy the eye candy!

Coriandr gets Green

Posted by alibalijewellery on Thursday, February 12th

Firstly, let me introduce myself. I’m Ali, I make contemporary silver jewellery for women which I sell under the name AliBaliJewellery.

I’m one of the new blog authors on Coriandr and I’ll be doing regular Thursday posts featuring my top picks from Coriandr. Preparing for my first post gave me a great opportunity to have a really thorough browse through Coriandr’s shops and we really do have a talented bunch of sellers with gorgeous goodies for sale!

Each of my posts will feature a different theme and today, being tired of red and hearts (valentine fatigue setting in!) I decided to search Coriandr’s listings for the colour green. Here are just a few of the great items I found.

.

I hope you enjoyed my top picks this week, more next Thursday!

….and we thought we’d share some of that love with our sellers! From February until the end of March we’re halving the sales commission Coriandr charges down to 2.5%! That’s right, selling a £10 item  will now only cost you 45p (inc 20p listing fee)! In exchange you’ll get your own web shop (complete with RSS feed) and easy to use selling tools to help keep things organised.  Yay!

Say hello to our new blog editors!

Posted by MatW on Friday, February 6th

A big thank you to everyone who responded to Coriandr’s recent plea for blog editors. I’m really pleased to announce that we’ve got three new editors (and Coriandr sellers) joining us very soon; alibalijewellery, digtheearth, and Tiny Pretty Things! They’ll be injecting some much needed craftiness into this blog in the form of product spotlights, handmade discoveries, and current handmade events. I’m sure they’ll be along shortly to say a proper hello, so give them a warm welcome when they get here!

Coriandr needs blog editors!

Posted by MatW on Monday, February 2nd

Can you think of any cool handmade items you’ve seen this week? Discovered a new stitch and want the world to know? Know of any events that other people need to hear about?! With so much time being dedicated to building the site itself, Coriandr really needs some help keeping it’s blog and forum fresh and interesting…

We need a few people who have the time each week to write a blog article or two about something cool they’ve discovered, that they think the crafting world will want to hear about! Let me know by leaving a comment here, or replying to this topic on our forum.
